Nature Days provides weekly Forest School sessions for Knelston Primary School children within the school’s grounds. This service is available to other local schools in their own grounds or by visiting a local woodland on Gower.

Flight Day

Crymlyn Bog NNR is a fantastic place to explore flight. We not only have the amazing array of reedbed birds to listen to and spot but also the pond containing the nymphs of dragonflies, beetles and midges.

Village study

A detailed investigation into how a rural village has changed over the last 100 years. Students will investigate changes in building materials, design of houses, location of houses, services and residents occupations. The day will also build on map reading skills, using keys and using baseline maps to look at changes over time.

This unique field trip looks at the way Ryer’s Down has been utilised through the last five thousand years. A truly innovative day includes the reconstruction of a full sized medieval longhouse so that the students can picture what the site looked like eight hundred years ago.

Ecology Field day

A number of habitats are visited, bog, woodland, reedbed and pond. The plants and animals found within each are studied and their adaptations to life in each habitat explored, also an introduction to food chains and food webs, adaptation, competition and predation is included.
