Literacy day

Field days will be designed around your class’s specific LNF and curriculum requirements. Foundation phase days will follow books as a basis for inspiration in speaking, listening, collaboration and discussion skills. For e.g. Tiddler for looking at retelling a story.

A number of environments are available which will add to the imersivve experience of exploring the story.

On the beach we can focus on ‘Sally and the Limpet’ or ‘The Snail on the Whale’ with activities including rock pooling.
A pirate focus will complement ‘Year 3 all at Sea’.
Whereas a woodland habitat lends itself to the retelling of ‘The Gruffalo’. We even have a woodland with a river and access to a beach for ‘Stickman’ discovery days.

If you are exploring a story that you would like a field trip to be based on then we will design the day and activities around your needs.

Kensuke’s Kingdom; experience what it is like to be stranded on a desert island. Create your ideal desert island, explore the environment visited by Michael; experience the rain, explore a real cave, learn how to paint, catch fish, find food and water, build a beacon.

Journey to the River Sea. Take a journey along a river to the sea. Explore our very own temperate rainforest and its mini beast and animals.
