Heathland habitat

Course description Ryer’s down is a wonderful heathland, which provides great opportunities for investigating the plants and animals which live there. There is also a pond which is full of dragonfly nymphs and diving beetles. Investigate the creatures in the pond, woodland or heathland all within walking distance. History is also abundant here in the form of archaeological remains of long and round houses. Role play life in medieval times and become a commoner for the day.

Science: Interdependence of Organisms (5) How and why food webs are affected by environmental factors, e.g. light intensity, water availability, temperature, and their fluctuations. KS3.
